Awards night to hold NFT art auction in AIBC – AGS UAE first
AIBC and AGS’ Awards Night will auction off a number of NFT’s and physical artworks with all proceeds going towards the company’s charitable arm SiGMA Foundation
The highly coveted AIBC and AGS Dubai Awards, celebrating the best of both industries will take place on the 24th and 25th of May from 20:00 to 23:00 with a premium guest list at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City’s Al Baraha Ballroom.
The venue’s golden interior will be brimming with the most talented professionals of the industry, enjoying the artisanal ambience while awaiting the announcement of the most inspiring makers.
Alongside premier networking opportunities, this extravagant awards gala will reward leading players in the sectors of AI, blockchain, IoT, Quantum Tech and affiliation in a celebration of achievement. The glitzy event will feature an art auction, with all proceeds going to the SiGMA Foundation for a variety of charitable projects.
The auction will feature a number of innovative pieces from both local and international established artists. With a background in Duchampian concepts in his artworks, Mark Mallia is a Maltese artist who works with abstract paintings on a variety of mixed media and ceramic sculptures. For this auction Mallia donated ‘The Two Seas’. The Two Seas represents the metaphorical mixing of the Black and Red seas as in Byzantine times, the North and South cardinal points were represented by the colors Black and Red. The starting price for this piece is going at $400. This 30×40 forms a unique part of the ongoing Human-AI collaboration art series between Mark Mallia and UMA, the Universal Machine Artist.
The next piece is donated by self-taught artist Derek Mason. The painting’s ‘Head to Head’ portrays the fearsome animals representing the different set of economic conditions in when it comes to the stock and crypto market. The fundamental notions of “bull” and “bear” trends originating from the stock exchange have penetrated the cryptocurrency market and represent the tactics of animal attacks in wild nature. Derek began his work doing brief studies on animals before expressing himself with paint, initially experimenting with watercolors. He’s currently in a period of oil paints and his artistic development is presently showcased in a style characterised by it’s emotiveness and flexibility in form and color.
Our third painting in the auction, uses eccentric colors and texture, giving VESA‘s artworks good vibes that rub off on the viewer. VESA is a crypto artist and in work of mixed media he combines photography, painting, bodypainting, and digital collaging into a single expression. He calls this process Artevo, which has been widely featured from Forbes and to Vice. Crypto artist, writer & speaker VESA has been a pro-level international career digital artist for two decades, and full-time crypto since 2017. VESA’s artwork will all be featured on roboads. The robot will be navigating autonomously around the expo floor featuring the artist’s work.
Anastasia Machikhina has the latest innovative artwork up for auction during the awards night. Her piece is a manifesto of everyday reality receding into Cyberspace. Labelled AI, this artwork portrays the next technological level of development in Artificial Intelligence. Starting at $ 300 this piece captures raw emotion and energy, creating whole domains of colour and texture that touch a nerve deep inside our own psyche. This art work will be both physical and as an NFT.
In tandem with the AIBC awards we will also be giving recognition to affiliates leading the industry. As the sector continues its high growth trajectory we hope to shine a spotlight on the most intriguing and creative individuals challenging the conventional role of affiliation. Towards the end of the evening we will also be hosting a charitable auction where generous donations from leading artists Amrita Sethi and Anastasia Machikhina will be set out for auction.
The award-winning multi-media and tech artist Amrita Sethi, captures fluid shapes and structures of sound waves on canvas. She hand draws each vertical line into individual images encapsulating the beauty, spirit and essence of that voice note. When it’s complete, it magically combines the artwork with the shape of the sound to create new Voice note Art. This unique idea in her artworks led to her winning the “Outstanding Artist Award” at World Art Dubai and selected for Expo 2020. Amrita studied Mixed Media at Central Saint Martins, UAL. She holds an MSC and BA Hons degree in Economics from The University of Manchester.
The final auctioned artwork by Anastasia Machikhina, labelled ‘Vitalik with a Pipe’, presents a striking portrait resemblance of Vitalik and character of the famous painting by Pablo Picasso “Boy with a Pipe”. The icon of the world of cryptocurrencies in the classical traditions of painting languidly looks at the fuss around his child. This artwork will also be auctioned off as an NFT.
All paintings will be auctioned off to raise money for SiGMA’s philanthropic arm, SiGMA Foundation which reflects the company’s commitment to supporting those in need around the world through fund-raising activities, education, and crucial skills to enable self-confidence and personal empowerment. The foundation has supported a number of causes, including an educational initiative in Ethiopia, where it helped set up kindergarten schools.
